This artwork by Jamini Roy achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March last year. In the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak auction, the work Untitled (Gopini) sold for USD 18,900.00 (€ 17,037.77) - well above the upper estimate of USD 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jamini Roy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Dralha) in September last year with an auction result of USD 579,600.00 (€ 592,456.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jamini Roy erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Gopini) für USD 18.900,00 (€ 17.037,77) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jamini Roy erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Dralha) im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 579.600,00 (€ 592.456,30).
