Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Jeune Fille à la coquille (Girl with a shell) by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux was sold in the Collection Jacques Ginepro, Une Vie de Sculptures auction at Sothebys in Paris in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 6,300.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ugolin in March 2019 with an auction result of EUR 455,400.00.
