Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jiří Kolář could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2014 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Czech Avant-Garde Art from the Roy and Mary Cullen Collection auction, the work Czech Before The Lion Came (Ne Přišel Lev) changed hands for GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,828.87) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jiří Kolář achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Czech Tagebuch in July 2009 with an auction result of EUR 72,750.00.
