Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Joachim Wtewael achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2008. In the Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art auction, the work Sine Cerere Et Baccho Friget Venus sold for USD 1,161,000.00 (€ 782,292.30) - well above the upper estimate of USD 400,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joachim Wtewael have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 4,633,250.00 (€ 5,901,515.18).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Joachim Wtewael erzielte im Januar 2008 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art wurde die Arbeit Sine Cerere Et Baccho Friget Venus für USD 1.161.000,00 (€ 782.292,30) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 400.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joachim Wtewael auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan im Juli 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.633.250,00 (€ 5.901.515,18).
