Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2010 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Gramercy Park by Johann Berthelsen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,595.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Johann Berthelsen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Flatiron Building in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 28,800.00 (€ 21,534.32).
