Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Forêt De Fontainebleau, Vers 1852 by John Beasley Greene was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 15,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 10,625.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Beasley Greene achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album Of Egypt And Algeria, 1852 - 1856 in May 2014 with an auction result of GBP 482,500.00 (€ 593,008.06).
