Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work H.M.S. Brilliant's escape from the French, 26th July, 1798; and H.M.S. Java's defeat by the U.S.F. Constitution 29th December, 1812 (both illustrated) by John Bentham-Dinsdale for GBP 687.50 (€ 962.68). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by John Bentham-Dinsdale have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work H.M.S. Crescent, under the command of Captain James Saumarez, capturing the French frigate Réunion off Cherbourg, 20 October 1793 in March 2017 with an auction result of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,521.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2007 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit H.M.S. Brilliant's escape from the French, 26th July, 1798; and H.M.S. Java's defeat by the U.S.F. Crescent, under the command of Captain James Saumarez, capturing the French frigate Réunion off Cherbourg, 20 October 1793 im März 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.521,70).
