In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work The River Yare at Whitlingham with Whitlingham church beyond by John Berney Ladbrooke. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,088.57), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Berney Ladbrooke have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Water Frolic On The River Bure At Wroxham, Norfolk in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 52,850.00 (€ 66,804.17).
