Auction result misses estimated price range

In July 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Earl of Zetland's 'Voltigeur', winner of the Derby and the St. Leger 1850, with J. Marson up by John Frederick Herring Senior for GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,548.52). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Herring Senior achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Start for the Derby, 1834 in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,105,600.00 (€ 1,632,212.62).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im Juli 2020 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Earl of Zetland's 'Voltigeur', winner of the Derby and the St. Leger 1850, with J. Marson up von John Frederick Herring Senior für GBP 11.250,00 (€ 12.548,52) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Masters Paintings & Sculpture bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Herring Senior erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Start for the Derby, 1834 im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.105.600,00 (€ 1.632.212,62).
