Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work British outdoor Gossip, Cairo by John Frederick Lewis for GBP 293,000.00 (€ 374,541.12). This price was achieved in the auction The Orientalist Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by John Frederick Lewis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Midday Meal, Cairo in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,663,660.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April 2016 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit British outdoor Gossip, Cairo von John Frederick Lewis für GBP 293.000,00 (€ 374.541,12) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Orientalist Sale bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300.000,00 – 500.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Frederick Lewis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Midday Meal, Cairo im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.472.000,00 (€ 3.663.660,11).
