This artwork by John MacWhirter achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in August 2006. In the Gleneagles Pictures auction, the work A Bound Volume Of Approximately Two Hundred Watercolours And Drawings sold for GBP 10,800.00 (€ 16,060.28) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John MacWhirter; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Exile's Garden sold at auction in May 2019 with the realized price of GBP 18,812.00 (€ 21,294.06).
