Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Gothic Folly, Stowe (L. 376) by John Piper was sold in the THE ORDE LEVINSON COLLECTION OF PRINTS BY JOHN PIPER auction at Christies in London in July 2001. The price achieved of GBP 998.75 (€ 1,626.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Piper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abstract Painting, 1935 in November 2015 with an auction result of GBP 362,500.00 (€ 516,327.40).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit Gothic Folly, Stowe (L. 376) von John Piper wurde im Juli 2001 in der Auktion THE ORDE LEVINSON COLLECTION OF PRINTS BY JOHN PIPER bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 998,75 (€ 1.626,39) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Piper erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Abstract Painting, 1935 im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 362.500,00 (€ 516.327,40).
