Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work The Chevy Chase in waters off Newcastle-On-Tyne by John Scott for USD 9,560.00 (€ 7,766.04). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Scott - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Patrician and other shipping off Tynemouth Harbor, which sold at auction in July 2002 for USD 21,510.00 (€ 21,957.94).
