Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work The interior of Florian's looking towards St Mark's Square (i); Interior of Florian's with figures at a table (ii); Interior of Florian's with chairs, doorway beyond (iii); Study at Florian's (iv); The Door to Caffé Florian (v) by John Stanton Ward was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2018, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three t However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Stanton Ward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Annabel's, Study for The Founder Members, which sold at auction in November 2018 for GBP 13,125.00 (€ 14,804.60).

Als die Arbeit The interior of Florian's looking towards St Mark's Square (i); Interior of Florian's with figures at a table (ii); Interior of Florian's with chairs, doorway beyond (iii); Study at Florian's (iv); The Door to Caffé Florian (v) von John Stanton Ward im November 2018 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 1.200,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 4.375,00 (€ 4.934,87) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von John Stanton Ward mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Annabel's, Study for The Founder Members beobachtet, die im November 2018 für GBP 13.125,00 (€ 14.804,60) versteigert wurde.
