Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Purfleet and the Essex Shore as seen from Long Reach by Joseph Mallord William Turner. The price achieved of GBP 4,794,000.00 (€ 5,621,959.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joseph Mallord William Turner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rome, From Mount Aventine in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 30,322,500.00 (€ 39,035,113.21).

Im Juli 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Purfleet and the Essex Shore as seen from Long Reach von Joseph Mallord William Turner zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.794.000,00 (€ 5.621.959,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000.000,00 – 6.000.000,00 angegeben worden.
