This artwork by Lee Man Fong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2011. In the Southeast Asian Modern and Contemporary Art auction, the work Weaving Girl sold for HKD 500,000.00 (€ 44,727.32) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 280,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lee Man Fong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bali Life in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 33,720,000.00 (€ 3,471,572.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lee Man Fong erzielte im Mai 2011 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Southeast Asian Modern and Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Weaving Girl für HKD 500.000,00 (€ 44.727,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 280.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lee Man Fong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bali Life im Oktober 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 33.720.000,00 (€ 3.471.572,23).
