Hanging scroll, ink and color on paper, signed Keran with an artist's seal reading Li, the outer titleslip inscribed in clerical script and dated wushen (1968) fourth month, with two calligraphers' seals.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Washing the Water Buffalo by Li Keran was sold in the The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Part V The Online Sale auction at Bonhams in New York in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,837.50 (€ 9,769.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Li Keran achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Magnificent Mountains With Gushy Cascades in October 2017 with an auction result of HKD 122,162,500.00 (€ 13,445,426.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Washing the Water Buffalo von Li Keran wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Part V The Online Sale bei Bonhams in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.837,50 (€ 9.769,67) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Li Keran erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Magnificent Mountains With Gushy Cascades im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 122.162.500,00 (€ 13.445.426,25).
