Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2018 Christies in London held the auction Middle Eastern, Modern and Contemporary Art, which included the work Maaloula by Louay Kayyali. The price achieved of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 42,288.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louay Kayyali - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Cake (Kaak) Seller, which sold at auction in June 2020 for GBP 137,562.00 (€ 151,500.70).
