Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,043.81). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Luigi Galea - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mediterranean fishing craft off the Maltese coast, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 7,285.00 (€ 11,689.74).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A convoy entering Valetta harbour von Luigi Galea kam im März 2009 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 3.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.043,81) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Luigi Galea mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mediterranean fishing craft off the Maltese coast beobachtet, die im Mai 2000 für GBP 7.285,00 (€ 11.689,74) versteigert wurde.
