This artwork by Man Ray achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in March 2021. In the Man Ray et les surréalistes. Collection Lucien et Edmonde Treillard auction, the work Marcel Duchamp, Space Writing, 1937 sold for EUR 17,500.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Man Ray erzielte im März 2021 bei Christies in Paris einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Man Ray et les surréalistes. Collection Lucien et Edmonde Treillard wurde die Arbeit Marcel Duchamp, Space Writing, 1937 für EUR 17.500,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Man Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.412.500,00 (€ 11.566.955,55).
