In March 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Modern and Contemporary Indian Art, which included the work Woman Playing Veena by Maqbool Fida Husain. The »bidding war« ended at USD 132,000.00 (€ 98,698.97), 65% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maqbool Fida Husain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 1,082,500.00 (€ 1,526,311.41).

Im März 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Indian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Woman Playing Veena von Maqbool Fida Husain zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 132.000,00 (€ 98.698,97) und damit 65% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maqbool Fida Husain erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.082.500,00 (€ 1.526.311,41).
