Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Marcus Stone could be acquired at Christies in London in June 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the BRITISH & VICTORIAN PICTURES auction, the work A Gambler'S Wife changed hands for GBP 2,937.50 (€ 4,879.77) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcus Stone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work My Lady is a Widow and Childless 'Tis better to be lowly born, and range with humble livers in content, than to be perk'd up in a glistering grief, and wear a golden sorrow' William Shakespeare, The Life of King Henry VIII, act II, scene, 3. in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 116,650.00 (€ 170,305.32).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit My Lady is a Widow and Childless 'Tis better to be lowly born, and range with humble livers in content, than to be perk'd up in a glistering grief, and wear a golden sorrow' William Shakespeare, The Life of King Henry VIII, act II, scene, 3. im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 116.650,00 (€ 170.305,32).
