Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2013 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Untitled (Landscape) by Marsden Hartley. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 63,502.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marsden Hartley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pre-War Pageant in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 27,395,000.00 (€ 24,194,118.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Landscape) von Marsden Hartley zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 63.502,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marsden Hartley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pre-War Pageant im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.395.000,00 (€ 24.194.118,17).
