Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Winter on White Street by Martin Lewis was auctioned at Bonhams in London in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 7,040.00 (€ 8,109.81). Admittedly, works by Martin Lewis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Snowstorm, Danbury, Connecticut and Study for 'Snowstorm, Danbury, Connecticut': A Pair of Works in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 56,250.00 (€ 47,276.85).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Winter on White Street von Martin Lewis im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 7.040,00 (€ 8.109,81) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Martin Lewis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Snowstorm, Danbury, Connecticut and Study for 'Snowstorm, Danbury, Connecticut': A Pair of Works im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 47.276,85).
