Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Christies in New York held the auction Modern American Art, which included the work Woman by the Sea by Milton Avery. The price achieved of USD 1,986,000.00 (€ 1,735,710.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500,000.00 – 2,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Milton Avery - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Letter, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 6,069,500.00 (€ 5,656,043.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Modern American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Woman by the Sea von Milton Avery zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.986.000,00 (€ 1.735.710,54) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.500.000,00 – 2.500.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Milton Avery mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Letter beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 6.069.500,00 (€ 5.656.043,24) versteigert wurde.
