The work A Fragment Of An Antique Altar: A Sphinx By A Garland, And An Eagle To The Right by Nicolas Poussin was sold in the Old Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2012. The »bidding war« ended at USD 59,375.00 (€ 45,487.63), 32% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolas Poussin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Baptism Of Christ in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 1,815,000.00 (€ 2,145,117.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 32 % übertroffen
