Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2003 Christies in London held the auction THE SCOTTISH SALE, THE ASSEMBLY ROOMS, EDINBURGH, which included the work A wooded river landscape, with a figure on a path by Patrick Nasmyth. The price achieved of GBP 10,755.00 (€ 15,708.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Patrick Nasmyth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A view near Woburn, Bedfordshire, which sold at auction in September 2010 for GBP 37,250.00 (€ 43,083.58).
