In July 2010 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours Day, which included the work Portrait of a boy, said to be General James Wolfe, three-quarter-length, in a red coat, holding plans of fortifications by Philippe Mercier. The result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,023.87) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philippe Mercier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 278,658.98).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Juli 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours Day durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a boy, said to be General James Wolfe, three-quarter-length, in a red coat, holding plans of fortifications von Philippe Mercier zur Versteigerung kam.
