Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Bandits ambushing travellers in a wagon by Philips Wouwerman. The price achieved of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 69,630.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philips Wouwerman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The departure of a hunting party in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 1,217,250.00 (€ 1,463,605.98).
