Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Collection de Monsieur & Madame Robert Schmit | Œuvres choisies – Session I, which included the work Femme assise by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The price achieved of EUR 520,700.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Berthe Morisot et sa fille, Julie Manet in May last year with an auction result of USD 24,435,000.00 (€ 22,770,478.05).
