This artwork by Qiu Ying achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2011. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Fishing Alone sold for HKD 560,000.00 (€ 53,573.18) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Qiu Ying achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Celestial Mountains and Pavilions in June this year with an auction result of HKD 31,230,000.00 (€ 3,649,219.78).
