The work Portrait of Jan Willemsz. van der Pluym (c.1565-1644), bust-length; and Portrait of Jaapgen Carels (1565-1640), bust-length by Rembrandt van Rijn was auctioned at Christies in London in July this year. It achieved a price of GBP 11,235,000.00 (€ 13,107,839.84), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 40%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Rembrandt van Rijn - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar, which sold at auction in December 2000 for GBP 19,803,750.00 (€ 31,547,196.55).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Jan Willemsz. van der Pluym (c.1565-1644), bust-length; and Portrait of Jaapgen Carels (1565-1640), bust-length von Rembrandt van Rijn kam im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 11.235.000,00 (€ 13.107.839,84) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 40%. Für andere Arbeiten von Rembrandt van Rijn mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, aged 62, perhaps Aeltje Pietersdr. Uylenburgh, wife of Johannes Cornelisz. Sylvius, half-length, in black costume and a cap and collar beobachtet, die im Dezember 2000 für GBP 19.803.750,00 (€ 31.547.196,55) versteigert wurde.
