Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Ren Xiong achieved an unexpectedly high price at POLY in Hong Kong in October 2013. In the Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Taming Dragon Luohan sold for HKD 80,500.00 (€ 7,639.03) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ren Xiong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Drinking Cards with Illustrations of Daoist Immortals in November 2019 with an auction result of HKD 5,765,000.00 (€ 668,633.27).
