Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Wilderness by Sanford Robinson Gifford was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2013. The price achieved of USD 965,000.00 (€ 700,341.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sanford Robinson Gifford - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Lake Twilight, which sold at auction in May 2019 for USD 2,900,000.00 (€ 2,601,130.15).
