Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Anthony van Dyck could be acquired at Christies in New York in April 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Masters Part I auction, the work François Langlois, Called Ciartres (1588-1647) changed hands for USD 1,812,500.00 (€ 1,501,159.52) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000,000.00 – 4,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Anthony van Dyck have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Princess Mary (1631–1660), daughter of King Charles I of England, full-length, in a pink dress decorated with silver embroidery and ribbons in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 5,858,750.00 (€ 6,527,167.10).
