Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

In June 2003 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work Anglers by a waterfall by Thomas Creswick. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 15,535.00 (€ 22,324.64). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Creswick - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The London Road A Hundred Years Ago, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 38,240.00 (€ 56,912.57).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Im Juni 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Pictures 1500-1850 durch, in der auch die Arbeit Anglers by a waterfall von Thomas Creswick zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 15.535,00 (€ 22.324,64) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Creswick mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The London Road A Hundred Years Ago beobachtet, die im Juni 2004 für GBP 38.240,00 (€ 56.912,57) versteigert wurde.
