In the American Art auction, the work Menemsha Hurricane sold for USD 1,022,500.00 (€ 785,933.90) - well above the upper estimate of USD 500,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Hart Benton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nashaquitsa in November last year with an auction result of USD 5,580,000.00 (€ 5,405,405.41).
