In the WATERCOLOURS OF THE GRAND TOUR FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION auction, the work The Acropolis of Athens at sunset sold for GBP 2,400.00 (€ 3,539.27) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Hartley Cromek have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Artist'S Wife Admiring The Skyline Of Florence With The Bargello, Badia, Forte Belvedere, Palazzo Vecchio, Duomo And Campanile, From A Roof Terrace On The Via Dei Servi in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 14,900.00 (€ 20,246.57).
