Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2020 a collector was able to acquire the work Sir Donald Peak in the Selkirk Mountains, Canadian Pacific by Thomas Hill for USD 75,000.00 (€ 64,394.26). This price was achieved in the auction The Legend of the West: Iconic Works from the T. Boone Pickens Collection at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Thomas Hill have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hudson River Valley from the Catskill Mountain House in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 372,500.00 (€ 328,976.42).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober 2020 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Sir Donald Peak in the Selkirk Mountains, Canadian Pacific von Thomas Hill für USD 75.000,00 (€ 64.394,26) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Legend of the West: Iconic Works from the T. Boone Pickens Collection bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Hill auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hudson River Valley from the Catskill Mountain House im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 372.500,00 (€ 328.976,42).
