Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2017 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art – Day Sale, which included the work Two Ladies In The Rain by U Lun Gywe. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 52,500.00 (€ 5,778.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by U Lun Gywe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Spectrum of Burmese Colour in November 2019 with an auction result of HKD 325,000.00 (€ 37,693.98).
