Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Utagawa Kunisada achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March this year. In the Arts of Asia Online auction, the work Ujikawa senjin arasoi no zu (Competition at the Battle of Uji River) sold for USD 4,410.00 (€ 4,056.29) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kunisada achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo period (1615-1868), 1857 in March last year with an auction result of USD 47,812.50 (€ 43,101.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Utagawa Kunisada erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Arts of Asia Online wurde die Arbeit Ujikawa senjin arasoi no zu (Competition at the Battle of Uji River) für USD 4.410,00 (€ 4.056,29) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Kunisada erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Edo period (1615-1868), 1857 im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.812,50 (€ 43.101,51).
