Auction result well in line with expectations

The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,062.50 (€ 754.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Weegee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Weegee Portfolio in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,028.69).

Die Arbeit Woman Hysterical at Husband's Murder, 1940s von Weegee kam im September 2008 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.062,50 (€ 754,56) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
