When the work Two Verses in Running Script by Wen Zhengming was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 1,800,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at HKD 9,810,000.00 (€ 1,164,657.53). Admittedly, works by Wen Zhengming have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poems In Large Running Script in May 2019 with an auction result of HKD 83,227,500.00 (€ 9,525,364.61).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Two Verses in Running Script von Wen Zhengming im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 1.800.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 9.810.000,00 (€ 1.164.657,53) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wen Zhengming auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poems In Large Running Script im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 83.227.500,00 (€ 9.525.364,61).
