The price achieved of GBP 149,000.00 (€ 174,205.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Daniell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shivala Ghaut and Cheyt Singh's House near Benares, which sold at auction in December 2016 for GBP 485,000.00 (€ 567,043.69).
