Auction result well in line with expectations

In January 2013 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Furniture, Folk Art and Prints, which included the work Atlas Building by William Hawkins. It changed hands for a price of USD 27,500.00 (€ 20,244.41) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hawkins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Puma Kitten, circa 1985, which sold at auction in January 2017 for USD 85,000.00 (€ 78,747.45).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Januar 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Furniture, Folk Art and Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Atlas Building von William Hawkins zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 20.244,41) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Hawkins mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Puma Kitten, circa 1985 beobachtet, die im Januar 2017 für USD 85.000,00 (€ 78.747,45) versteigert wurde.
