This artwork by William Heaton Cooper achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2001. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work Sca Fell at 6.00am sold for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,276.55) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Heaton Cooper; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot View of Thirlmere sold at auction in June 2005 with the realized price of GBP 2,640.00 (€ 3,912.65).
