Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Off Bamburgh Head by William Henry Williamson was sold in the Maritime and Naval Battles auction at Christies in London in November 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,172.50 (€ 5,185.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Henry Williamson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping Off The Coast In Heavy Seas, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,685.70).
