Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Four Landscape Studies: The Gateway, Warkworth Castle; The Ruins Of Warkworth Hermitage; The Entrance To Hulne Abbey, All Northumerland; And Figures On A Riverbank Before A Castle by William Payne was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,752.12). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Payne; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Shipping lying on the Tamar before Pentillie Castle sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,335.36).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Four Landscape Studies: The Gateway, Warkworth Castle; The Ruins Of Warkworth Hermitage; The Entrance To Hulne Abbey, All Northumerland; And Figures On A Riverbank Before A Castle von William Payne im Dezember 2017 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches.
