The »bidding war« ended at USD 387,500.00 (€ 351,665.31), 55% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Winslow Homer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Where are the Boats? in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 4,572,500.00 (€ 3,918,166.24).

Die Arbeit Sailing Calm Water von Winslow Homer wurde im November 2019 in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 387.500,00 (€ 351.665,31) und damit 55% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Winslow Homer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Where are the Boats? im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.572.500,00 (€ 3.918.166,24).
