This price was achieved in the auction Modern Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy at China Guardian in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 20,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xie Zhiliu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lotus Pond in October 2012 with an auction result of HKD 16,340,000.00 (€ 1,626,686.22).
